Ladies Auxiliary
The Pink Lady began in November 1997 when one of the club's husbands remarked to his wife, "You women don't play with trains." Unknown to the outspoken club member, his comment was overheard by some of the other wives. Shortly after the incident six wives met in secret to discuss the fact that only the men had trains to run at club shows. They went out and bought box cars, paint and stickers. None of the ladies had ever put a model train together. One of the wives talked her husband into helping. With one of the club members acting as an instructor the ladies painted and assembled The Pink Lady. The ladies even got the husband to donate a steam locomotive to pull the train. The Pink Lady train has increased its size as more wives purchased and decorated rolling stock. The original steam engine began to have problems pulling the longer load. This time a more powerful 4-6-2 steam locomotive was donated by one of the husbands. The engine was trimmed in pink and the logo Pink Lady was added. Three of the wives decided they wanted to have their own shirt to wear at club functions. With the permission of the club the wives designed a shirt for them based on the men's club shirt.
